    17th-18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers
    Sourced from the British Library, this archive is a collection of the newspapers and news pamphlets gathered by Reverend Charles Burney (b. 1757-d. 1817). Although the majority's published in London, there are English provincial, Irish & Scottish papers.

    A collection of 48 nationally, regionally, and locally important digitized British newspapers from 1800-1900, 19th Century British Library Newspapers, will unlock hidden resources from the study of the nineteenth century and the Victorian period.

For each issue, the newspaper is captured from cover-to-cover, providing access to every article, advertisement and illustration.

    The first series, Debates over Slavery and Abolition, documents the issues and debates surrounding slavery and its abolition and how they shaped the 18th and 19th century. Many of the sources reflect the history of slavery in the United States but the collection also comprises significant works and documents related to the United Kingdom and other European countries, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa. As such it allows for comparative and comprehensive research on the abolitionist movement, highlighting the transatlantic influences.
